Want to Try a New Quilting Technique?

by Nicole February 4, 2014
February 4, 2014

Have you been thinking about trying a new quilting technique?

If so, check out these tutorials I wrote for Spoonflower last fall. Each tutorial was based on a workshop I taught at Spoonflower. Hopefully the tutorials will give you a taste of what we covered in the workshop.

Since the tutorials came out at different times, I thought it might be helpful to have them all in one place.

Tutorial #1: Free-Piecing Quilt Block

In this tutorial, I show you step-by-step how to free-piece strips to create this improvisational block.

Tutorial #2: Modern Rectangular Log Cabin Block

Love the log cabin block? In this tutorial, I show you how to make it into a rectangle.

Tutorial #3: Modern Half-Square Triangle Block

In this tutorial, I show you how to create improvisational half-square triangles using the stitch-and-flip technique.

Tutorial #4: Modern Quilt Finishing Techniques

Need some inspiration for machine quilting? In this tutorial,  I review 10 machine quilting designs, including straight line quilting and free-motion quilting. And you don’t need a long arm machine for this quilting! All of the designs can be done using a home sewing machine.

I hope you’ll find these tutorials helpful. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Happy stitching!
