Quilts and Ladders

by Nicole
I love the look of a quilt on a ladder.
I’ve always wanted a ladder for my quilts, but was never able to find one that I liked for the right price.
A couple of days ago, I was browsing through blogland and came across photos of quilts displayed on ladders and wanted one.  On a whim, I checked Craigslist and found a listing that was just posted for five vintage ladders. It was a happy day!
I brought this one home yesterday.
Immediately, I tried out the Just Stay Little quilt that I made for my daughter last year and draped it over one of the rungs. I loved the look.
I loved it so much that I’ll be going back to get a couple more ladders. After all, I’ve got a lot of quilts to pull out of the closet and enjoy displayed.
How about you? How do you display your quilts?

I love quilts on a ladder! Wish I had the room for one.

A ladder is a great idea for your quilts. Mostly we just use the ones around here, I still have to make more for there to be many extras.

Score!! Great ladder.

Hmm.. Display? I don't do a lot of displaying. There's one on my bed and a stack of them on a bench in the hall but I have yet to really get into "displaying" them. I should probably do that. πŸ™‚

Looks great! I don't own any of the quilts I've made yet… am trying to change that. πŸ™‚

OMG!! I have been seeing them displayed that way too and went to the Salvation Army on Wednesday (Senior Citizen's day 25% discount) but didn't see any. I want a vintage older one too. For taking photos of my quilts.

Your quilt looks great on it.

Looks great on the ladder. I only have 1 quilt, displayed on a bed. The other ones I sold. But I also want to have more quilts of my own.

I love a ladder too and have always wanted one…sigh. At our house, quilts are on all the beds, hanging on a few walls, in grandgirl's toybox, on a wrought iron quilt rack, on shelves, and even a pile on the cedar chest. But still, I'd love a ladder. Good for you!

I love how your quilt looks on it! I have two antique rockers that my husband has been holding onto for a long time, but I've been trying to get rid of because we just never used them……until now πŸ™‚ I just took some pics of my mom's Mother's Day quilt on one of them and LOVED how it looked! I think we'll be hanging onto them for a while πŸ˜‰ We actually have an antique ladder, too, but I'm not sure it looks as good as yours. Looking to more ladder pics in the future.

I love this Nicole! Well I'm just getting my collection together but they are either used or folded – this is so much better but I'm not sure I could keep my 5 year old from performing some kind of acrobatics on a ladder!

Love a quilt on a ladder, but like Annabella, I couldn't trust the boy not to try and climb it πŸ˜‰

What a score! I love ladders, too, and am always looking out for them but I think it may be a few years until they are safe in my house. Too many crazy kids here. But one day! Your daughter's quilt looks fabulous on it!

I love quilts on a ladder also. I have one big one and one little one. The quilts love some display time to show off every now and then!

That looks great, although my quilts don't ever seem to end up in situations where they will get displayed like that lol

I love that ladder! I've been thinking about whether or not it's possible to make one. I might give it a whirl this summer. It won't be cool and vintage, but I suppose I'll live. πŸ™‚

I love the ladder look and have one in my bedroom with quilts hanging in it. It's just an old timber one of my father-in-law, paint stained with a broken rung, but I love it and the look with my quilts on it. Your quilt looks lovely on your new ladder – go girl!!

I have my MIL looking when she goes antiquing but I never thought to check Craigslist. Great find! It looks great!

Love your ladder. I'll check Craigslist in my area.

I think quilts on ladders look amazing and I want one, but I havent' found the right one yet… Yours looks great!!

I have a ladder too! But it's out if the way so my kids aren't tempted to use it. Mostly my quilts are hanging over the back of couches or being used.

Hi!!! Looks beautiful hanging on the ladder!!!! Great find!!!! I also love the look when they hang the ladder lengthwise on the wall!!! The you can hang a quilt in each section and you can put it up a little on the wall… more away from other things!!!! Pretty even at the top of a wall letting the quilts hang down!!!! Thank You

I love the way this looks, Nicole! What a great score!
