In an effort to clear some space in my closet, I’m recommitting to getting my WIPs done. I had an “Aha!” and a “Duh!” moment the other day when I realized that the faster I get my WIPs done, the more room I’ll have in my closet.
The first WIP I chose to work on was this almost finished quilt top.
I started this top about two and a half years ago when I was on a mission to use every little, itty, bitty scrap. I used improvisational piecing to stitch together the teeny pieces of scraps into “made fabric” and used those to make stars. The top has one jumbo star in the center and little wonky stars surrounding the large star.
For the backing, I chose this Dear Stella dot fabric in a bright green. I think it will be a nice contrast to the subdued gray background fabric on the front of the quilt.
I’m still debating on how to quilt all the negative space, but am leaning toward using it as an opportunity to practice my swirls.

I can see swirls. I need to finish up WIP's, but I keep adding 'must do' projects instead.

Finishing WIPs is so satisfying! Honestly, why don't we do this more often? 🙂 I admire your patience in using all those itty bitty little scraps.. I usually just pitch them in the bin (and by bin, I mean garbage, not scrap). Good call on the green backing. Looking forward to seeing the finished product!

Very cool! I am recommitting to my WIPs as well. The other day I counted 13 WIPs!!! Too many for me.
this quilt is so appealing, I have the book so must have a look at how you went about this . I think we are all guilty of WIPs, when I was doing embroidery that did not seem to happen but now I have the quilting bug I have lots and a very long list of other projects I want to do too
Tackling WIPs must be in the water because I feel it too. I hope we both feel the urge strong and hard as we move into summer. Good luck!
I don't often have WIP's, but when I do it is such a relief to get the finished…finally! This is really going to be gorgeous!
Love the colours in this top, Nicole, so calm and soothing. I think swirls would be perfect…..keep that calm feeling going! Can't wait to see it finished.

Lovely… the colours are great with the grey and swirl quilting will be perfect to keep that smooth feeling going! {Hm-m- some of my WiP's are a bit more dated, not really wanting to revisit them actually!} and good luck, but am sure it'll look great!
