Sunset was inspired by the pinks and oranges of summer sunsets. To the pinks and oranges, I added corals and browns, varying the shades of the colors to soften the color palette. Using paper piecing, I created a modified version of a star. When the shapes come together they create a secondary pattern of white stars. For the quilting I used back-and-forth lines to accentuate the main shapes and outlined the white stars. Sunset was published in the Summer 2014 issue of Modern Patchwork magazine.
