The colors for Sliced were inspired by a blouse with random lines of black, cream and gold. In sketches, I experimented with the placement of lines to create slices of color radiating at various angles from an unseen center. I used large scale piecing to bring the slices to life, focusing on high contrast between the black and the cream, along with slivers of gold. To accentuate the piecing, I echoed the outlines of the slices and added sections of matchstick quilting for visual interest randomly in the cream slices.
