Juggling Projects

by Nicole

Do you feel like there is not enough time to make all the things?

It is a constant struggle for me. I wish I could sew, sew, sew all day long!

I won’t bore you with my to-do list, my w.i.p. list, or my sewing bucket list, but I will share with you my “what I’m working on now” list.

Right now, I’m juggling two projects.

The first one has me seeing rainbows. I’m revisiting the color wheel quilt that I made for my partner in the Doll Quilt swap, Round 14.

Since making that quilt, I’ve had some people ask if I were going to write a pattern for it. I started working on it a while ago, but am doubling my efforts to finish it up. This past week has been about testing different versions. Hopefully, I’ll have more to share with you soon.

The other project is my Kaleidoscope quilt. It’s more than a year old and ready to be done! Progress is slow as these blocks are paper pieced and that takes some time. But so as not to shame myself after making a public goal, I’m pushing to meet the January deadline. Plus, I really want to wrap myself in this quilt!

In the meantime, if anyone has any answers to finding more sewing time, please share. I’m listening.

I've decided that sleep,is overrated. By going to bed just one hour later ech night, you automatically gain seven extra hours of sewing time EVERY week. Multiply that by 52 weeks each year and you a have gained hundreds of extra hours. Think of how many more quilts you could compete!!! Imagine if you went to bed even later. It's mind blowing! Only down side…..functioning at work and home while sleep deprived. Anyone got a solution to that?
Love your projects.

Juggling projects can either be invigorating or make you wish for so much more time. I really wish for that time turner that Hermione had in Harry Potter sometimes. But then again, it is nice knowing there are real and human limits to what can be accomplished. Beautiful work, Nicole. Your rainbow of colors is real eye candy.

I recently wrote a post about creating more time to sew. You can find it here: http://busyhandsquilts.blogspot.com/2015/01/more-productive-day-more-sewing-time.html For me it is all about using my non-sew time more wisely – time on the computer reading about what others are sewing is a big time-user for me.

Beautiful projects! I'm anxious to see what you come up with the color wheel, as one is on my bucket list! And RE: the hours – I feel that way too….

Nicole, both of these projects are beautiful. I wish I could spend more time sewing, too. I have so many projects going on right now, and I really need to prioritize them. I'm really ready to just quit my job so I can sew all day.

I have the same problem and would love to know too. I think having a routine is good. I know I sew well in the morning, so I get up early, sew for a bit and then go to work. When I'm back in the evening I barely feel like doing anything, especially if my husband is home.

Have fun with your projects! In answer to your questions – no idea! It's either get up a little earlier or go to bed a little later – if you can do without the sleep that is…….

Love love love your colour wheel! I also love your quilting. I am struggling with a small home machine at the moment and would love to try long-arming but this quilting lark isn't as popular here in the UK yet!!!!! ( I have sorted my life out and I'm no longer a no reply blogger thanks for your advice, Ali )
