A Playing Cards Quilt

Several months ago, the Triangle Modern Quilt Guild challenged members to make charity quilts for local foster children using these fabrics, plus any from our stash.

The reveal was a couple of weeks ago. So you might say that I’m a bit late. Okay, you might say, I’m a lot late, but I have a good start.

I’m adapting the Playing Cards pattern by Jennifer Mathis of Ellison Lane featured in Modern Bee by Lindsay Conner.

The pattern makes a baby sized quilt. I added extra blocks and sashing to make the quilt a little bigger just in case there is a big kid that needs a quilt.

Here’s the top waiting to be a quilt.

And here’s the backing getting its pre-quilting label. Stitching the label on before quilting saves me time since I won’t have to hand sew it later.

All that’s left is to quilt and bind!
