DQS14 Extras

by Nicole

Thanks to everyone who gave me ideas for what to include as extras in my DQS14 package. You all had great ideas!

I decided to make a zipper pouch for my swap partner. I came across the Pink Stitches Boxy Pouch on Instagram and decided to give it a try.

I started by making two improv panels using scraps of low volume prints.

I then quilted straight lines on the panels.

Here’s a look at the pieces ready for assembly.

I did a couple of things differently from the tutorial. I sewed the sides together by folding them into a triangle and sewing across the triangle.  I also added tabs on the sides instead of the straps.

Inside the pouch, I put fabric scraps of text prints, a bar of Chocolove, and a bag of catnip for my partner’s cat.

My partner received her package today. I’m happy to report that she likes the quilt and the extras.

Now I can breathe a sigh of relief.

Love it, Nicole! I have this boxy pouch on my list of things I want to try, and I have a pouch swap coming up next month at the CMQG, so maybe I'll try this one. Love the fabrics you used <3

My zipper fear prevent me from trying this without a teacher or class nearby but I love the look of it!!! I knew your partner would love it!

I don't know if I want to be in a swap like this because the pressure of creating all those pretties would likely thwart me, but I sure would delight in being a recipient of such lovelies. Thank you for the tutorial link for the box bag as well.

Your boxy pouch is beautiful! I love your choice of scrap fabrics! I really enjoy making boxy pouches. I will have to try a scrappy one, can't quit starring at yours. Your color wheel quilt is awesome too! Love your blog!
