Bear with me please! But I caught a bad case of the improv bug. And I just couldn’t help it, but I had to start another improv quilt.
I took this stack of fabrics…
cut up some strips…
sewed a little and cut a little, until I discovered this little block.
This block is going to join 8 more to make a wall quilt for my office.
I’m so excited about doing improv blocks that I’m working on a tutorial to share with you. It’s for those folks out there who have always wondered what this improv thing is about and wanted to give it a try, but who are just a little bit intimidated by it all.
If you’ve never tried it before, you’ll find that improv piecing is easier and more fun than you may think. Come back soon and I’ll share with you my strategy and a few tips for making an improv log cabin block.
For now, I’m linking up to WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced.
And if you are thinking about making an I-Spy quilt, you’ll want to be a part of the I-Spy charm swap my friend, Lorelei, is organizing over at Midnight Maker. Check it out!

i love it! i used what was leftover from cutting out the HSTs out of the charm pack and improv'd a piece that will go on the back of that quilt. it's definitely fun to just let go and see where the cutting and piecing will take you. 🙂
oh I love it too & look forward to your tutorial!
I love improv blocks. Yours look great. Also, I'm your newest follower : )
