Am I the only one who…?

by Nicole

…waits until a week before the baby shower to start the baby quilt?

I went back and forth about whether or not to even make a quilt. It is so much easier to pick something off the registry, isn’t it?

When I finally decided to go for it, I wanted to do something that would be pretty quick to make.

I chose the Baby Life Quilt by V and Co. I think it’s so cute!

A kind friend was sweet enough to cut out the letters for me using her cutting machine. I don’t think I would have been able to get them done so quickly and neatly by hand.

Laying out the letters took longer than I thought it would. I think mostly because I’m a bit particular about the spacing being just right.

Although I wasn’t crazy about the color lilac, I went with a lilac background and green and burgundy accents since lilac is one of the mom-to-be’s favorite colors. But after getting half of the letters appliqued on, I started having second thoughts about the background color.

So I listened to the quilt when it said, “Repeat,” and started all over again with a green polka dot on white for the background. Not the best thing to do in a time crunch, eh? But worth it. I like this one much better.

I’m plugging away and hoping to get it done before the baby shower this weekend. Wish me luck!

Very cute! And nothing like the pressure of a looming deadline to get the creative juices flowing!

I always work much better under pressure and always leave EVERYTHING to the last minute! The quilt is really lovely and the lettering is beautiful.

What a fabulous quilt pattern! I remember seeing it a while ago and thinking it was too tricky, but several bee months using fusible web later and I think this one can go onto my list! Just so long as it isn't me having the baby….

Really cute! I made that quilt once too, quite a while ago and unfortunately I don't have any photos of it. šŸ™

Yes, I totally do that too, but then don't finish so have to get something off the registry:). This is a great quilt!

That is a clever quilt! I have a baby shower Wednesday. I can't start making a quilt until Saturday!

That "font" is wonderful! I'm glad you were able to get a machine to do the cutting. I like how the letters pop against the polka dot background.

What's the name of the machine? How much does it cost? Do you have to buy plates for each letter? I would like to know more
