My Art

by Nicole

This is the art I worked on this week.

I’m calling it “Stack of String Blocks”.

It is 12 layers of 12 string blocks each. That’s 144 blocks, with a total of 1,584 strings.

These blocks will soon become the commissioned quilt that I’ve been working on.

But first, I’ve got a pouch to make. My guild is having a zippered pouch swap that ends tomorrow. All I have to do is make the pouch!

I hope your weekend is going well.  Happy sewing!

Oh that is a lot of quilty maths! And pretty impressive facts. I can see someone else has asked if you foundation pieced them, I was imagining (in horror) peeling all that paper off if you have!

Wow that's a lot of strings! This quilt is going to be spectacular. Are you going to arrange the in diamonds? Or diagonal stripes, or zig zags? Oh the possibilities!

Have you ever used old telephone directories for the foundation paper? Pretty much all the same sized pages when ripped out. Definitely cheaper than buying stuff but I recently used some purchased vellum-like paper. It DID tear away easily.
