A Patchwork Pouch

by Nicole

Ooh, it feels good to have a finish!

I made this patchwork pouch as part of a birthday package for my dear friend, Valerie.

I used the Noodlehead open wide zipper pouch tutorial for the medium size with a couple of modifications. First, I made patchwork panels of 1″ squares. For more on that, see this post.

Second, instead of having the zipper hanging out, I made little tabs at each end. That took some trial and error, but I got it in the end.

For the lining, I used a text print from the Quilted Fish’s collection of The Cottage Garden.

I must admit it was hard to let this one go!

Have you seen the leather open wide pouches that Anna made? Now, I need to find some leather so I can make my own!

Such beautiful work! You are the queen of itty-bitty patchwork squares! The text fabric inside is great.

Great idea using the tiny patchwork. I need to make one of these to keep my makeup in.

my oh my, this pouch turned out cutie cute, Nicole
I love the fancy bottom half too.
Very sweet. I like the tucked in zipper part too. I have made several pouches using this method with the zipper, I agree, it is tricky at first, I messed up a couple of times but then you get it perfectly

I love sewing bags like this – they make fabulous gifts and the possibilities are pretty endless for how to make them. This one is great.

I wish my name were Valerie. There is something extremely appealing about that grey textured bottom contrasting the patchwork squares that really makes this bag stellar.

Beautiful quilt! That pouch is so cute! I'm making my first open wide pouch today! I might even make a second one with some patchwork because I love it! Trying to decide on which interfacing to use. What did you use for yours?
