In my tradition of last minute Christmas quilt making, I started a new Christmas quilt about a week ago.
This one is based on the Northwest Modern Log Cabin quilt pattern in Modern Log Cabin Quilting by Susan Beal.
I love the Northwest’s minimalist design – just three fabrics – and the large scale of the blocks – which promise a quick finish, which is always a good thing when doing last minute quilt making.
For the focal fabric, I decided to use the scraps from the Hello Kitty pajamas I made for my kids last year.
I added Kona white for the background and aqua for the accent fabric.
Here’s one of the blocks. If you plan on ever making this quilt, you may want to double check the math BEFORE you cut. I think the cutting measurements in the book are off a bit, but I haven’t found an errata online. #wordtothewiseissufficient
With only 12 blocks, the top came together fairly quickly.
Now to stitch it into a quilt…Will I get it done by Christmas?

It is not too late! You have proven that. It's so special that you got to repurpose the pajamas into the quilt. Now they get to continue sleeping with Hello Kitty.
I am impressed this has come together so quickly, I am sure you will have it completed for Xmas. I have been working on A4A11 but that has 26 blocks all different and different sizes but it is not going together rapidly like yours!

Hello Kitty will make a great Christmas quilt. The stripes really add interest to the blocks.

Those are the most adorable pj's! How great to stretch the fun with a quilt. You can do it, Nicole–or not–you may need some time to take a deep breath before Christmas 🙂 Either way it's a great quilt that will be loved for a long time!

The strangest thing. I have Susan's book but the quilt in the picture above is not in my copy. Do you have a special version?
