Today is Fresh Sewing Day!
As I look back over August, I’m happy I finished a few things.
I finished two quilts for my girls. The first one was the Children at Play quilt for my youngest. I think all the time spent deciding on what to do with it was well worth it.
The second quilt, an ABC quilt, was for my eldest. With the uncommon animals, we are both learning quite a bit from this quilt.
Just before my daughter started pre-K, I finished the nap mat covers I had promised her preschool. There’s no picture of them as they weren’t very interesting to photograph. If you picture big, blue pillowcases with ties, you’ll have a good idea of what they looked like.
I also made a bag using Amy Butler’s Market Tote pattern. It’s big enough to fit my cutting mat and other sewing supplies for when I head to a class or sew-in.
Then there are the string blocks that I’m plugging away at for my commissioned quilt. 75 done. 69 to go!
August was a good sewing month for me. How about you?

Hello there, I am stopping by from Lily's Quilts, what lovely things you make! In fact I think I have met you before, through the Plum and June Bloghop, and I remember then that you made goreous quilts! I am going to become a follower. Lovely to meet you again 🙂
Lovely quilts, Nicole!! and love the tote–very stylish way to carry all the 'stuff'! 🙂 Have a nice weekend.
Love both the quilts but the Children at play is just so adorable.
Gorgeous stuff Nicole. A very productive month for you!
I really like the 2 quilts you made. Your daughters will enjoy them for a long time.

I'd say it was a great sewing month for you! Bravo on your beautiful finishes!
Gorgeous quilts and bag Nicole!
This might be a dumb question, but how do you make sure that the white string is in the same place on each block? Do you start with that string, build out, and then trim? I'm very bad at figuring out the math part of quilting (as will be evident when I post about my latest project.) 🙂
Also, big game for Michigan today! I'm pulling for them, although my MSU boyfriend remains unmoved. 😉
I love both of those quilts. You are super talented!
They are both beautiful! I love the star quilt – it really looks like the stars are floating?
Great tote bag, and of course the quilts are beautiful. Your doing well with the string quilt, it's going to be huge!
Love both those quilts, although the girls at play is my favourite. 🙂 But don't tell your girls we picked favourites!
Love both of your quilts! I love the fist one but I adore the second one even more. Also great job on the Amy Butler Market tote too!
What lovely quilts!
Such amazing quilts! The bag is looking great too. Hope this month is just as productive for you =D
Stunning finishes in August, Nicole. You're amazing!
Gorgeous quilts and love the Bag too. I never get any big projects finished but find making smaller ones by hand gets things done with my 3 boys around.
Your two quilts are each wonderful. Thanks for sharing!
Nicole,
I saw your QuiltCon block on the MQG blog this morning, very cool!
Are you going to QuiltCon this year?
such awesomeness, Nicole!
Great job on both quilts!
I love the colors on your string blocks…I can't wait to see them done!
