… a finished quilt!
For the past week, I have trying to finish this I-spy quilt that I started last year for my 2-year old daughter. I used the same approach that I took to making the Treasure Boxes quilt for my 5-year old. I used improvisational piecing and kept things simple by framing the I-spy fabrics in log cabin blocks. This time I used prints and solids in red, orange, pink and gray.
I considered quilting a geometric square pattern to complement the log cabin blocks. Here I was trying the squares on scrap fabric.
In the end, I decided to keep the quilting simple to match the minimalism of the blocks.
I’m glad that I did. I love the texture of the wavy lines.
I backed the quilt in flannel because Baby Girl loves her quilts soft.
It feels good to get a work in progress off my list!

This turned out so wonderful! Nice work!
I really love this.
Lovely quilt, I like the minimalist log cabin and the wavy quilting line.
Beautiful quilt for a little girl.
Really sweet, Nicole! was the quilting a 'stitch' on your machine or did you do it by guiding it?
I love seeing these colours together- pink, red and orange! The little additions of grey are perfect! And the wavy lined quilted gives your quilt such wonderful texture! I love this quilt!
What a beautiful quilt, I love it!
Yay for finishing, it looks fab :o)

Aw. So precious! I can't help but smile at your signature pink and orange color combo – it's so happy. It's so fun making quilts for the wee ones, isn't it?
Such a great quilt!
Beautiful! I love the wavy lines and the colours on this quilt are so fun.
Seeing your wip become a fo is incredibly motivating especially because it is so beautiful.
This is really darling! You're right, the wavy lines are perfect!
Darling quilt! The quilting is perfect on it! I'm curious, what kind of longarm do you have? I'm doing my research to hopefully purchase one this spring, so I'd love to hear your thoughts about the one you use! Thanks. ๐
This is just so sweet Nicoleโฆ.what a lucky little girl your daughter is!!! ๐
Great design as always, thanks for sharing!
Love it!
If I ever do an I spy quilt, I'm going to do it like yours, with some negative space between the print fabrics. You can see each image so much better.
Sweet! I love the wavy line quilting you decided on – fits it perfectly.
Very sweet and the quilting looks great!
love, love, LOVE it!
Leave it to you to make a super stylish, modern I spy quilt! The quilting is perfect for this design. Love it!

very cute! i love the colors too!!
Love it! I especially love your wavy quilting. I hope your little two year old cuddles with it lots.
Nicole, I was just wondering.. on your I Spy quilt…I see you have FMQ'ed it all over with a straight stitch, even across the item to "spy". Is it easy to see the item or does the stitching make it harder to see? With a larger square to see, I wouldn't think it would be problem, but with smaller pieces (like the 2" ones that I will be working with after the 3" ones) I was thinking to FMQ around the little square for this reason..what is your experience with doing FMQ on smaller squares?
