Fall Blogger’s Quilt Festival, Part 2

by Nicole

Meet Sparkle.

Sparkle_Modern Patchwork Summer 2014

She’s my second entry in the Blogger’s Quilt Festival.

She made her appearance with Sunset in the Modern Patchwork Summer 2014 issue.

Unlike Sunset, Sparkle has lots of negative space, which meant lots of quilting was in order. I used my domestic machine to echo the pinwheels with 1/4″ lines. I kept echoing until the lines ran into each other.

I’m entering Sparkle in the Home Machine Quilted category. There are some pretty impressive quilts in this category! Go have a look!

I really like this. It's refreshing, calming and uplifting all at the same time. A very pleasant wall quilt.

I think your quilting is just perfect for this design. The echoing makes wonderful patterns that complement the piecing so well.

Rosemary B here:
Nicole, I like this. I love light fabric for the back ground. Someone is buying all of the white kona here in my town, lol. Not me.
Well, this is beautiful. You make bright happy quilts.
I am working on a little thing for my mom and dad's morning caregiver (the only care giver right now)
She comes every week day to help mom in the shower, and just clean up a little.
it measures 35×42. I am thinking of using my walking foot and quilting it. I am scared to mess it up.
I will send you a photo later today. I would love some advice.
Your quilts are always cheerful. I like that too.
Happy Saturday

Brilliant way of quilting and the shape of the points if you look at it from further away give an illusion of it getting lighter towards the centre of the star so it looks like it actually sparkles!

It indeed "sparkles" and shines. I just took Jacquie Gering's class on walking foot techniques. She would be so proud of your work!!!
