“Helix” Finished!

by Nicole

Last time I gave you a sneak peek of the quilt I was working on. Here’s the full view.

I’m calling it, “Helix.” The strips going straight and at angles remind me of the DNA helices I studied in biology in college.

I took a minimalist approach to the design, working with strips at regular intervals and keeping the quilt fairly simple.

Because the design was simple, I wanted to incorporate dense quilting. I usually quilt my straight lines at 1/2″ apart, but went with 1/4″ apart on the tangerine strips. The texture is amazing! I wish you could reach out and touch the quilt in the picture to feel the ridges.

It measures 23.5″ by 29.5.”

Incredible, Nicole! I love everything about this quilt!! I don't often do dense quilting, but when I do, I always love the texture of it too. Something about it just brings the quilt to life. Well done!
